All About Faux Fur Fabric

Faux fur and fake fur are synonymous. The word faux is actually a French word meaning "not real".

Faux furs are most often made of fine acrylic fibers. This synthetic fiber allows for easy dying of the fabric to just about any color or pattern, is durable, easy to clean and has an extremely soft plushy feel on the skin.

Faux fur is also used for stuffed animals, trim on shoes, women lingerie, decorative pillows and accents to clothing.

With the advent of many new insulating materials, coats made of faux fur can be just as warm if not warmer than real fur.
