All About Fleece Fabric Leather

Fleece fabric is a very environmentally friendly product. Today it is made almost entirely from consumer disposable plastic products such as plastic bottles. These recyclables are converted into polyester fibers, which are first twisted into yarn and then knit into fabric. The resulting fabric is then brushed to loosen some of the fiber and create the fuzzy fleece surface. Then this surface is sheared closely to create the soft cushy surface.

Because of the use of Polyester, these Fleece fabrics weigh only a fraction of the weight of their woolen cousins. When completely wet they still maintain their loft and insulating properties and will only pick up 1% or less of their weight in moisture. This same property is what enables Fleece fabrics to function so well at actively wicking moisture away from your body.

You will often see fleece used for throws, work out clothes, jackets and sweatshirts.

Fleece fabrics launder well in cool or cold water and dry quickly. You should not dry fleece fabrics in a clothes dryer as this can damage the fabric. Also do not iron Fleece fabrics.
