All About Raffia Fabric Leather
Raffia fabric is made from the leaves of the Raffia Farinifera palm tree, which originated on the island of Madagascar. The Raffia Farinifera palm tree has the largest leaves of any palm tree. This tree is now cultivated in East Africa specifically for export of the Raffia fiber.
The strands of Raffia are stripped from the leaves. It is a soft, durable material that is easy to dye. It resists shrinking in the presence of moisture and is easy to weave into material, placemats, hats, baskets and more.
This material is especially suited for outdoor use, exposure to bright sunlight, use around a pool and more.
